The bounty, plus a 15% fee
A request costs the bounty per person times the number of people asked, plus a 15% fee on top. Workers receive the whole bounty. The fee is kept only for the people who are paid; whatever is not paid goes back to the balance, fee included.
Choose how many people check
More people make the answer more certain, and cost more and take longer. In the API, set a level under assurance, or give the numbers directly. Up to 5 people per request. The amounts below assume $0.5 in digital dollars per person and include the fee.
One person
0.575digital dollars
bounty 0.5 + fee 0.075
assurance: { "level": "fast" }
Fast and cheap. The answer rests on one pair of eyes
Two must agree
1.15digital dollars
bounty 1 + fee 0.15
assurance: { "level": "standard" }
Final only when both give the same answer. A split is REJECTED
Two of three
1.725digital dollars
bounty 1.5 + fee 0.225
assurance: { "level": "high" }
Final even if one person disagrees. Suits places that are easy to misjudge
Time to result depends mostly on whether a worker is nearby. Typical figures will be published as results accumulate.
Where the money goes
When a request is made, the bounty and the fee are reserved from the prepaid balance, and the bounty is locked in a per-request holding account on a tamper-proof ledger. Depending on the outcome, it is paid out or returned as follows; anything returned comes back with its fee.
- Final (VERIFIED)
- Everyone with a valid answer is paid. Slots that were not filled go back to the balance
- Split (REJECTED)
- Everyone with a valid answer is paid, majority or not. The rest goes back to the balance
- Deadline passed (EXPIRED)
- Anyone with a valid answer is paid; the rest goes back. If nobody answered, everything goes back
- Cancelled before anyone set off
- Everything goes back to the balance. A request cannot be cancelled while a worker is on the way
Minority answers and “can't tell” (UNCLEAR) are paid too, so nobody has a reason to guess what the majority will say. Photos that fail the checks are not paid.
About payments
Balances and bounties are digital dollars on a tamper-proof ledger Devnet. The move to mainnet is under way.
